Other Writing

This is the 2005 edition [10 MB] of Romulus magazine, the magazine of Wolfson College, Oxford. I was editor of this and did the layout on InDesign.

Between March and early June of 2002 I worked as an intern at the Sri Lankan state-owned newspaper, the (Ceylon) Daily News. Below are a few articles I wrote at the time.

Prabhakaran

On 10th April 2002, I attended a press conference held by Velupillai Prabhakaran and Anton Balasingham, the military leader and theoretician respectively of the LTTE (the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). Here is my account.

A year later I wrote a paper analysing the Sri Lankan conflict. That is here and it is called 'Understanding the Sri Lankan Conflict'.

Awakening at Dusk

A report from the East (Batticaloa). Covering the 14th anniversary commemoration of the death of Annai Bhoopathy / a political rally, and an interview with cabinet minister and leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Abdul Rauf Hakeem.

We need three or four coal power plants - IESL president

An interview with B.R.O. Fernando, president of the Institution of Engineers and former CEB (Ceylon Electricity Board) engineer, about Sri Lanka's electricity generation issues.

Other articles

Most of these search results are other articles from Online edition of Daily News. FYI, the A9 is a road from Colombo to Jaffna.

This Google results page has been derived by entering "Douglas Ayling" and "Daily News" as simultaneous "exact phrase" searches and then selecting "repeat the search with the omitted results included".
